Darla Shores, MD, PhD
Associate Professor of Pediatrics (PEFA)
Darla Shores, MD, PhD, is a Pediatric Gastroenterologist and Associate Professor at Washington University School of Medicine. Originally from New Mexico, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Nutrition and her Medical Doctorate from the University of New Mexico. She completed Pediatric Residency at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital, where she was also a Chief Resident, and completed fellowship training in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She then joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she subsequently obtained a PhD in Clinical Investigation at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She was faculty at Johns Hopkins for 13 years before joining the Pediatric Gastroenterology faculty at St. Louis Children’s Center in 2024.
Her clinical and scholarly interests include nutritional interventions for gastrointestinal disorders, patient safety/quality improvement, and medical education.
Her hobbies include cooking, gardening, and travel with her husband.
