Assistant Professor of Surgery

Lindsay M. Kranker, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine, specializing in Acute Care Surgery, Trauma Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care. With a deep commitment to medical education, she serves as the WashU Surgery Clerkship Associate Director and Co-Director of the Capstone Course.

Dr. Kranker earned her bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and her medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Following her general surgery residency at Wright State University in Dayton, OH, she completed a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She holds dual board certifications from the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.

Driven by a passion for health equity, Dr. Kranker founded the clinical research group SHIELD (Strategies for Human Injury Elimination & Leveling of Disparities). Her research focuses on addressing the social determinants of injury and exploring the geospatial and intersectional nature of trauma, violence, and health disparities. Dr. Kranker is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Association of Out Surgeons and Allies, the Association for Surgical Education, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Kranker enjoys spending time with her partner, and their two dogs, Metz and Miles. Together, they love traveling, golfing, and exploring the vibrant food scene in St. Louis.
