Saurav Das, MD

Associate Professor of Neurology

Saurav Das, MD, is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and serves as Associate Director of the Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Originally from India, Dr. Das earned his medical degree from Stanley Medical College in Chennai. He completed a transitional year residency at Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, Qatar, followed by neurology residency at the University of Louisville and fellowship in cerebrovascular disease (stroke) at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to returning to Washington University, Dr. Das served as Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Kentucky, where he was a member of the Medical Student Progress and Promotions Committee and a house advisor in the College of Medicine’s learning communities program, mentoring students throughout their training.

Dr. Das is deeply committed to medical education, clinical excellence, and advancing evidence-based, patient-centered care. He has served as site principal investigator for multiple NIH StrokeNet clinical trials exploring novel treatments for acute stroke. In recognition of his contributions to teaching and educational leadership, Dr. Das has received the A.B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award from the American Academy of Neurology and the Education Innovation Award from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.  He currently chairs the American Heart Association’s Stroke Early Career Committee.
