Kristen Prufrock, PhD
Assistant Professor of Anatomy
Kristen Prufrock, PhD, is an assistant professor of anatomy in the Department of Neuroscience at Washington University School of Medicine. She earned her bachelor’s degree, with honors, and a Master of Science (evolutionary anthropology) from the University of Toronto. She then earned a PhD in functional anatomy and evolution from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Prufrock began her academic career as a lecturer at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine and joined Washington University in 2022. She teaches in Phase 1 of the Gateway Curriculum to medical students.
Prufrock is a member of the American Association of Anatomists, the American Association of Physical Anthropologists, the Canadian Association for Physical Anthropology, the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society, and the Society for Vertebrate Paleontology. She is involved in a collaborative research project supported by the NSF focusing on dentofacial development in primates. Her hobbies include vegetable gardening, cooking and powerlifting.
