William (Will) Johansen, MD

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics

Will Johansen, MD, is an assistant professor of pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine. Originally from Charleston, WV, he earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of South Carolina before returning to West Virginia University to complete medical school. Following medical school, Will completed his pediatric residency in Louisville, KY and then went to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where he completed a hospice and palliative medicine fellowship.

Johansen practices as a pediatric hospice/palliative care physician, with a focus on symptom management and communication at it relates to children with serious medical illnesses. Aside from his clinical duties, Johansen is also involved with communication skills workshop for residents, medical students and fellows as well as QI development. He also is the community chair for OUTmed at Washington University School of Medicine. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his partner, their dogs, traveling, gardening, reading and getting outdoors.
