Karen Winters, MD
Karen Winters, MD, is a full professor in the Department of Medicine. She earned her bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Illinois State University and her medical degree from Southern Illinois University. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. That hospital subsequently merged with Barnes Hospital to form Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Winters currently is the director of Student Health/Occupational Health and also an attending in the Medicine Resident Clinic. Her special interests include student health and women’s health needs. She is a member of the American College Health Association and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. In 2021, she was elected as a new faculty member of the WUSM Chapter of Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society. Her outside interests include daily walking, listening to music, and being with friends/family.
