Lori R. Holtz, MD
Dr. Lori R. Holtz, assistant professor of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition, grew up in Cincinnati. She received her bachelors from Tulane University and her medical degree from The Ohio State University. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. She then came to Washington University and St. Louis Children’s Hospital to complete her pediatric gastroenterology fellowship. After fellowship she joined the faculty at Washington University. To further pursue her scientific interests, which lie at the intersection of metagenomics, epidemiology, virology, gastroenterology and global health, Dr. Holtz completed a masters of science of public health degree at Saint Louis University. Her translational research laboratory focuses on disorders of the developing childhood gut and employs metagenomics, virology and epidemiology to begin to define the stool virome in health and disease.
