Helga Komen, MD
Helga Komen, MD, is an instructor of anesthesiology in the Department of Anesthesiology, Washington University School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of Rijeka School of Medicine in Croatia. Dr. Komen completed anesthesiology training in Clinical Hospital Rijeka, Croatia. She joined Washington University School of Medicine in 2014, as a visiting professor. Komen is actively involved in clinical practice, research and teaching and is specialized in ear, nose and throat anesthesia. Her interests include long acting opioids, pharmacogenomics and airway management. She has published several papers in peer reviewed journals, as well as book chapters. Outside of work, she enjoys art and architecture, and likes to go to the movie theater.
