Jiafu Ou, MD, is an associate professor of medicine at Washington University School of Medicine and chief of non-invasive cardiology at Veterans Affairs St. Louis Healthcare System. He earned his medical degree from Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in China. Following brief residency training in Fujian, China, his first research fellowship was at Fukuoka University in Japan, in the field of cholesterol metabolism. He then pursued a second postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratories of Drs. Michael Brown and Joseph Goldstein, Nobel laureates at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW). Ou was promoted to research instructor then research assistant professor at UTSW. He completed an internal medicine residency at UTSW, followed by a cardiology fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine. He returned to Washington University in St. Louis to work at Veterans Affairs St. Louis Healthcare System as a staff cardiologist after a two-year experience in private practice in Kansas City.

His clinical interests are general cardiology, cardiac imaging and clinical research.
